Work Placements is a generic term generally used for short-term employment for students. They are invaluable for providing experience, training and giving you an insight into different business areas. They will enhance you CV and are greatly valued by employers. There are a significant number of work placement opportunities on The Student Ladder website, categorized by your year of study, as follows:
16-18 years of age: Click here for a selection of short term work experience placements by industry sector.
Gap Year Students: Click here for a range of paid placements during your gap year.
1st Year University: Click here for a selection of Easter or summer paid placements. They are grouped by industry. Start researching them in your first term at university!
2nd Year University: Click here for summer internships that in many situations are the ‘recruitment’ choice for graduate entry. Many major employers now offer summer internships for penultimate year students. Ensure you apply early at the beginning of your second year of university.
Sandwich year student: Click here for a range of 6 or 12 month industrial placements for those students studying 4 year degrees and require a work placement as part of them.
Final Year Student: Click here for access to the full range of graduate schemes and graduate jobs which are categorized by industry sector. Most of these open for application at the start of the final year of study in September.
