Retail: A - F

  • 3M (12 months). From engineering, to marketing, and research and development, to business and IT, they have a range of industrial placement positions. 
  • ABInBev. A leading global brewer. Internships offered in marketing, sales, supply or support. 8 weeks up to a year. 
  • Adidas Group (3-6 months). Located in Bolton. Internships available across many departments including e-commerce, sales & retail, marketing & communication, product development, design, supply chain, accounting, IT, HR and R&D. 
  • Aldi (9 months). Split into 5 sections: store operations, Logistics, trading, finance and final project.
  • Asda (12 months or shorter). Internships in finance, trading, supply chain, food technology and trading law. All based in Leeds. 
  • ASOS 12 months in either Buying, Merchandising, Garment Technology, Design, IT or International Marketing. All placements are located in London. 
  • Boots (1 year across many disciplines)
  • Bosch (6-12 months). They offer internships for almost all fields of study with specila emphasis on the engineering sciences, physics and business studies. 
  • British Airways (12 months). Placements available in commercial, customer services Heathrow, engineering, finance, ground and air operations, inflight services, flight operations and HR
  • BT. (11 months). Placements available in software engineering. Locations include Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff and Ipswich.
  • Compass. They are the UK's largest food and catering service provider and offer a 1 year placement in a range of areas including Operations, HR, Communication and Marketing.
  • Cummins. Business placements available in HR and customer support.  
  • DHL. 12 months mainly in operations, learning about logistics and supply chain. Placements are based all over the UK. Examples of previous locations include East Anglia, South East, North West and the Midlands. You will spend the duration of your placement in one location. interested in students studying a business, logistics, supply chain or geography degree. 
  • Dyson. 1 year finance placement in Malmesbury. You need an analytical degree. 
  • Enterprise (rent-a-car). 12 month programmes in sales, marketing, customer service, business management and administrative support.


Retail: G - M

  • George at Asda (1 year). Opportunities within Buying; Design; Merchandising; Branch Merchandising; Garment Technology; Marketing
  • Green King. 12 months industrial placement with the UK's leading pub retailer and brewer. They are particularly interested to hear from those with an interest in Finance. Head office is in Bury St. Edmonds.
  • GSK (12 months). A wide range of placements are on offer within engineering, communications, finance, HR, regulatory affairs, sales & marketing, science, supply chain and procurement.
  • Halfords. (12 months). There are two positions, one in the trading team and another in the marketing team. You will be based in Redditch. In the 12 months you'll spend with the Trading team, you'll get to see a product through its complete life cycle.As a part of the marketing team, you'll assist with the marketing team to promote new store openings, design promotional materials and get involved in PR activities.
  • Hilton Hotel Group. (6-12 months): Positions include front of house, food & beverage, revenue, HR, conference & events, and sales & finance. Successful interns may be offered a full time position with the group. 
  • House of Fraser. University placements are available for Buying Assistants, Online Category Executives and Allocators.
  • IBM offer a 12 month marketing placment 
  • Innocent (12 months)
  • ITV. 9 months News Traineeship. Aimed at would be joirnalists. Based in an ITV regional newsroom and trained in every aspect of journalism and production. 
  • John Lewis (12 months): Retail management placements in John Lewis or Waitrose. 
  • Lidl (48 weeks): Aimed at students studying a degree in Business or Retail Mangement. Programme covers sales, property and warehouse & distribution. 
  • Lucite International (12 months). One of the largest chemical companies in the world. Chemical or process engineering placement. They are based in the North West and North East. 
  • Mars (12 months in sales, purchasing, R&D or information services).  
  • McDonalds. One-year placement offers you a unique business experience where you could be working in a busy 24/7 restaurant with plenty of responsibility. The Restaurant Industrial Placement scheme consists of four stages and mirrors the Trainee Manager programme that they offer to graduates.
  • Microsoft (1 year). They offer 11 internship programmes which fall into either technical, business or gaming. They include project management & business consulting,  business operations, data analyst, finance, game production, art design & user research, HR & citizenship, journalism and editorial support PR & internal comms, software development & technical consulting, marketing and sales. Internships are available in Reading, London, Twycross, Edinburgh and Guildford.
  • Mondelez International. (Cadbury/Kraft). The snack food power house - brands include Cadbury, Oreo and Toblerone. They have placements lasting between 3 and 12 months in  sales, engineering (chemical, mechanical or electrical), supply chain, Information systems and research, development & quality. The later placement could include working in Packaging Development, Process Solutions, Food Science, Sensory Science, Pharmaceutical or Product Ingredients. 
  • M&S. A wide range of placements including retail managment, M&, food technology, food product development, and HR. 


Retail: N - W

  • National Instruments. Marketing 12 month placement. You will support the team across a number of activities and contribute to a broad range of marcoms projects.
  • Neilsen. They are a market research company based in Oxford. They have offices in c100 countries and provide their clients with detailed consumer information. They offer an industrial placement year. They work within the following industries: advertising, telecom, online, FMCG, financial services and books. Opportunities vary and you could be managing projects, designing world-class questionnaires or serving as a consultant between clients, analyst teams and operations departments.
  • Nestle (12 months)
  • Net -A-Porter (6 months). Placements are in fashion closet, product editorial, online styling and studio production. 
  • Nissan (12 months) Placements available in purchasing, operations, HR, IT, Quality assurance, supply chain and finance. 
  • Pepisico. (1 year). Opportunities exist within Finance, IT (functional analyst and infrastructure analyst), R&D (product, process and lab technicians as well as nutrition and sensory placments), Operations (manufacturing and logistics) and Procurement. 
  • P&G. They offer a variety of 6-12 month placements, including a 6 month finance placement in Ireland, 1 year in Information & decision Solutions in Newcastle, and an R&D placment for a scientist/engineer. 
  • Puma (4-6 months). The following areas of study are of interest to them: clothing & textile technology, sports & economics or managment, design, shoe technology, textile managment, business administration and computer science. 
  • Reckitt Benckiser. RB offers 35-40 studenst placements each year. Most are science based, but other placements are available in engineering, finance, management and design.  
  • River Island. 12 month placement. Opportunities exist in merchandising, buying, design, marketing & press and garment technology. 
  • Sainsbury’s ( 6 or 12 months). Commercial, operations or people.
  • Samsung (12 months) Head office in Chertsey, Surrey and also in London. Opportunities in marketing, legal, finace, CSR, technical and HR.
  • Ski Solutions. 6 month marketing internship based in London. The main focus of this role is to work with the marketing and product teams to ensure that the best products are presented to the market primarily through the website at the right price so as to increase conversions from visits to enquiries. It will be part of this role to collate the most relevant offers for each brand from suppliers, merchandise the offers on site, communicate them to the sales team and report back on the success of set campaigns. 
  • Sky (11 months in Osterley) Marketing & Corporate affairs for undergraduates. 
  • Tesco. A wide range of placements on offer. These include property, marketing or customer analysis within business operations or merchandising, buying, quality & techical or garment technology within commercial operations.  
  • TK Maxx. They offfer 5 year long placements in merchandising & buying, business technology, finance, logistics and distribution.  
  • TUI Travel. (12 months). Placements offered in the commercial division in head office in Luton. Positions include Product Assistant, Trading Assistant and Purchasing Assistant. You need 300 UCAS points to apply. 
  • Unilever. (12 months). Opportunities in supply chain managment, finance, HR, sales, marketing or business and technology management. 
  • United Biscuits. 12 month placements. 
  • Universal Music. 6-12 month placements. They are looking for self-motivated, hard-working and enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication, IT and organisational skills.  Most importantly, you need to be creative with a passion for music.
  • Waitrose (12 months): Retail management and head office placements. 
  • Warner Music Group. Warner Music UK works alongside some of the UK’s key universities to take on candidates to complete a 12 month placement.They are looking for creative university students who are passionate about a career in the music business and have a desire to promote current superstars and develop exciting new acts, as well as those interested in purely business facing roles.
